Woko's regulatory database is compiled from publicly available records published by food-safety agencies. Each flagged ingredient in the app includes a citation pointing back to the relevant rule or guidance. The sources below are the primary references for the regions Woko compares against.

Primary Regulatory Sources

  • European Union — European Food Safety Authority (EFSA): https://www.efsa.europa.eu/
  • United Kingdom — Food Standards Agency (FSA): https://www.food.gov.uk/
  • Canada — Health Canada — Food and Nutrition: https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/food-nutrition.html
  • Japan — Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW): https://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/
  • Australia & New Zealand — Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ): https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/

How We Use These Sources

Entries are hand-curated and must include a citation and source URL before they ship in a database release. Items that cannot be verified against a primary source are excluded. Database versions are dated; the app shows which version you are running on the scan screen and in Settings.

Corrections

If you believe an entry is incorrect or out of date, email support@ioup.io with the ingredient name, region, and a link to the authoritative source. We review all corrections before the next database release.
